Genevieve Laberge Obituary
On February 3, 2005, at the age of 78, Genevieve Agnes Laberge
passed away peacefully at her daughter's home with her family by her side.
She will be eternally missed and lovingly remembered by her 5 children, Greg Laberge (Bonnie) of Quesnel, BC; Michelle Cleven (Norm) of Coalmont, BC; Colette Smith (Stephen) of Calgary, AB; Yvonne Vincent (Glenn) of Mather, MB and Jacquie Doherty (Morris) of Kamloops, BC. She also leaves to cherish her memory 15 grandchildren, Christopher and Danielle Laberge; Jason, Annette (Victor), Jennifer and Renee Cleven; Aaron, Michael and Ethan Smith, Raymond, Jacuqelyn, Emilie and Alexander Vincent; and Kathleen and Graham Doherty. Brothers Ralph Messner (Adeline) of Calgary, AB; Richard Messner (Ellen) of Porcupine Plain, SK; Ernie Messner (Marlene) Porcupine Plain; SK; sister Joanna Jones (John.) Kamloops, BC; many nieces and nephews, friends and her daschund Isabella.
Predeceased by her loving husband Joan Marie, infant daughter Cecilia, parents Edward and Anna Messner, brother Bernard Messner and sister Mayme Waugh.
Genevieve was born and raised in Saskatchewan. As a young woman she worked in Toronto, Vancouver and Kamloops. She met her husband Jean Marie in Kamloops and they were married in 1952 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral. Their son was born in Kamloops followed by 5 daughters all born in Vancouver, BC. Jean and Genevieve moved back to Kamloops in 1964 and raised their family. She loved to spend time with her family and treasured weekends and summer holidays, spent at the family cabin on Johnson Lake. Genevieve delighted in many things; gardening, golfing, bowling. cards, games, knitting and crafts, She always had a smile on her face and welcomed everyone with great hospitality. Genevieve was a loving and devoted wife, mother, Grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
The family would like to give a special thank-you to Dr. Ben Anders for his care and compassion.
Prayers will be recited at The Sacred Heart Cathedral, 255 Nicola Street, on Wednesday Feb. 9, 2005 at 8:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005 at 1:00 pm at the Sacred Heart Cathedral. Kamloops Funeral Home in care of arrangements, telephone 554-2577. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Kamloops Hospice House.
