Carroll J. (Mosser) Magnuson Obituary
Carroll J. Magnuson, 88, formerly of W. Hemlock Ave., Kane, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born Jan. 21, 1930 in Kane, she was a daughter of the late William H. Christie and Maybell Maust Mosser. In 1953, she married Leroy "Lee" Magnuson who died in 2012.
Carroll was a lifelong resident of Kane where she was a 1948 graduate of Kane High School. She went on to college at Penn State University where she received a degree in elementary education in 1952. She later attended Clarion University where she received her master's degree in 1973. Before retiring in 1992 after 22 years, Carroll taught third grade in the Kane Area School System.
After retirement, she volunteered at the Friends' Memorial Public Library for many years. She was an avid golfer and a lifetime member of the Kane Country Club.
She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Retired Teachers Association.
Her greatest passions in life were teaching and the love of children.
Surviving are one son, Garth Magnuson of Kane; two grandchildren, Ashley Komidar of Kane and Dan Magnuson of Tampa, Florida; and a great-granddaughter, Elise Komidar of Kane.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William Magnuson; and her loving stepmother, Virginia Christie.
A funeral service for Carroll J. Magnuson will be held Friday, March 9 at 2 p.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Calvin J. Cook, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery in Kanesholm.
Friends will be received Friday, March 9 from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
