Bray, Eleanor Jane (Emrich) passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at her home. She was born on Nov. 19, 1923 in Longford, Ks., one of 15 children born to Sherman & Zella Emrich. The family moved to Miltonville, Ks. where Eleanor graduated from Miltonville Rural High School in 1942. She married her high school sweetheart, Claud, in New London, CT on Oct. 23, 1943 where Claud was stationed during WWII. After the war, Claud & Eleanor attended Fort Hays State University, both majoring in Education. Eleanor taught at a one room schoolhouse before they moved to Hutchinson. While raising her family, she was the school secretary where Claud was the principal at schools in Bloom, Turon and Hugoton, Ks. After Claud graduated from chiropractic college in 1966, she was his office manager in Larned, Ks. and later in Bull Shoals, Ar. While in Arkansas, she enjoyed walking several miles a day and won the Arkansas Senior Olympics "power walking" event several years. Her grandchildren loved spending summers with them at the lake. In 2001, Claud & Eleanor moved back to Ks. to be closer to family. Settling in Wichita, Eleanor did volunteer work at Riverside Hospital. They enjoyed traveling, with their last big trip a cruise to Alaska to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary. She will be missed by all who knew her. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claud; son, Claud Robert; grandson, Austin Wood; 9 brothers, John, Jacob, Dan, Isaac, Paul, George, Frank, Clovis and Robert Emrich; 5 sisters, Grace Ernsbarger, Bernice Reiser, Ruth Breningstall, Mary Smead & Harriet Emrich. Survived by daughters, Marcia (John) Kurtz, Claudia (Dennis) Ellerman; granddaughters, Bianca (Clint) Huschka, Jennifer (Ron) Treat. Grandson, Brian (Mary) Ellerman; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Per her wishes, no service will be held. Claud & Eleanor's ashes will be buried together in the family plot at Miltonville Cemetery. Memorial with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice 313 So. Market Wichita, Ks. 67202
