Jeremy Becker Obituary

Becker, Jeremy "J.B." Benjamin, II December 13, 2004 April 4, 2017. To fully know J.B. is like trying to catch the wind. You might think you know which way it's blowing, but it suddenly changes direction. No matter how hard you try to follow, you can never keep up. All the while it swirls and howls with amusement. J.B. took pride in his ability to keep people on their toes. He had no category. He was a comedian, outdoorsman, video gamer, video maker, athlete, creative, ingenuitive and loyal to the end. He was certainly an extrovert, but still in tune with his compassionate and empathetic core. He loved others and would always stick up for the underdog. Born exactly 11 months apart from his best friend and sister, Rylie Becker, they were "Irish Twins" (born in the same calendar year). While he was the second child; he was the first boy. He wore his "man of the house badge" proudly from an early age. This title was reinforced when he became the big brother to Henry Becker. While the roles often fluctuated between tormenter and teacher, they shared an incredible bond. He may have started life as Mommy's baby and buddy, but he quickly became Daddy's boy. A manly-man through and through, he hung on every word his Dad (Jeremy Becker) had to say. Mom (Hollie Becker) was there for hugs and kisses, but only Dad could teach him to be a man. He would scour our camping areas (usually barefoot and without a shirt) to bring back enough wood to make the big fire Mom wanted. Daddy taught him well. J.B.'s lively spirit will be cherished and missed by more people than this could ever include. Countless family members and friends will remember him always. The next time you curse the Kansas wind, think of J.B. and have a laugh. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, at NewSpring Church, 12200 E. 21st St. N. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the J.B. Becker Memorial Fund c/o Maize Middle School. Share condolences at www.CozineMemorial.com. Services by Broadway Mortuary.

jb has always been one of my all time best friends. he was the type of friend you could tell everything to and feel no judgement at all. i will never ever lose jb. though he is no longer here with us, i still find ways to feel close to him. i live right down the street from his grave and always blow him big kisses when i drive by. i love spending time with his family and they treat me like part of the family. there is never a dull moment with the beckers and words can not express how blessed i am to have met him and his family. i will always aspire to be like jb. when he was still with us, i never once heard him say something bad about another person. he will forever be in my heart and in my mind. i’ll love you forever and always jb. stay crazy for me.

He was a silly dork that I loved talking to, and I'll never forget our crazy adventures on an iPhone app called Crash Drive. He made me laugh so hard, and it hurt when I realized that the JB everyone was talking about, was my friend. God welcomes the funniest kid in town, to his wonderful palace in Heaven. Thank you for everything, Jeremy

J.B. has been my friend since day one of my seventh grade year, he helped me climb out of the box, I miss him dearly, for the last words I heard from him the night he died, was "See you soon, Strawberry." I couldn't make it to the funeral, but I can say this. Fly high little turtle.

Jeremy and Holly so very very sorry for your loss

April 11, 2017

I don't know your family but I feel like I know JB. My son attended Maize Middle with JB and said that it has been hard to find other kids willing to talk to him because my son is shy - that never stopped JB as my son considered him a friend - one of the few that sought him out to make him feel like he was worth talking to. Our son is hurting because of a loss felt by so many, especially you. He'll miss JB. I hope it helps somehow and gives you comfort to know that JB touched the life of another kid in such a positive way. This is the impact JB had on our son and for that, we thank you. Our hearts and prayers will be with your family and we will always remember his kindness.

I never knew your J.B., but he reminds me of my own son who is also a "Maize Eagle" (only five years younger then J.B.), so I feel especially heartfelt about him. He seemed like such a lively loving soul from a family that is obviously very close and love one another immensely! May God bless and keep you and yours. You are in my prayers!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I only met JB a couple times, but I'll never forget the greeting he gave me through a McDonald's drive thru window. It was one of the few times I've ever been called Mrs. Gassmann. Bailey loved JB like a brother and we have talked of him often and reminisced a lot in the last few days. He will always be a highlight in Bailey's elementary school memories. Much love and prayers from our family to yours.
