Margaret Vance Obituary

Margaret "Squeaky" R. (Bell) Vance
February 18, 2021
Wichita, Kansas - 66, passed away on February 18, 2021, due to Covid-19 complications. "Squeaky" graduated from Bishop Carroll HS in '72 and earned her Bachelor's degree in speech and journalism from Creighton University. She became the first female in broadcast sales in the Wichita market, creating the drive to become a fierce competitor among her counterparts. She was in media sales for over forty years and part of the "Media B's" Club. Margaret was referred to as "The Greatest Salesperson in The Universe" which was a self-appointed and accurate title. If you ever had the pleasure of meeting her, you would consider yourself lucky. Margaret welcomed all into her home as family, and to her, family was everything. She lived a life full of magical adventure, nothing was ever simple or boring. Her over-the-top, larger than life personality made her one-of-a-kind. She was everyone's biggest cheerleader and the life of the party. No event was too small to celebrate in a big way. She loved all holidays, especially Halloween. Margaret took great pride that her home was known for her decorations and many people drove by to see them. Although her life was cut short, she lived every minute to the fullest, while spending all the time she could with her "greatest treasures": her children and grandchildren. She was the coolest, most selfless, energetic mom anyone could ask for. Our world lost an amazing woman, but Heaven is now a brighter and louder place. Margaret is survived by her husband, Gregg Vance; her children, Lezlee (Chris) Brigham, Madison (Jarrett) Harwood and Hunter Vance; grandchildren, Harrison, Gracie, Maverick, Maizee and Emerie; her father, Johnnie Bell; siblings, Janet (Brad) Stephen, Diddy (Fred) Muck, Mike (Traci) Bell and Mark (Sherry) Bell. She was preceded in death by her mother, Laurestine Bell. Rosary, 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 25; Funeral Mass, 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 26, both at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Both services will be available digitally by the church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Dragon Master Foundation https://www.dragonmaster.org/memorial-margaret-vance. I only met Squeaky once and spent a wedding weekend with her and her incredible extended family. I picked her and her family at the airport and took them to the hotel where we were all staying. She made an immediate impression on me and she made you feel like her best friend.

I knew Squeaky when she was much younger. She was always a happy girl. Although I haven’t seen her in a long while, her bright cheerful eagerness for life was an inner strength of hers that was easily shared to others. I wish a peaceful heart for her children Maddie, Lezlee, and Matt.

It seems like I’ve known Squeak, and the entire Bell family for most of my life. She was such a joyful soul. Fun, happy, and made the most of her life. I was shocked and extremely sad to hear of her death, it just doesn’t seem real. I know she’ll be up there selling something..... My heartfelt condolences to her family.

Met Squeaky when I was just starting to sell advertising for Multimedia Cable and my wife, Kelly was a media buyer for SHS. She used to refer to us as Ken and Barbie of advertising, so that tells you how long ago that was if I could in any way pass for a "Ken." :) That being said, she was the true professional and never did I feel that we were "competitors" just friends trying our best to help our clients successfully market their businesses. Prayers to her family and comfort in our faith that we will be together again.

I worked with Margaret for 9 years between 1983 and 1991as General Sales manager for KWCH. I never met anyone in my career quit like Squeaky. To say she was one of kind would be an understatement. She was warm, generous and the best damned sales person I ever met. My heart goes out to her family and friends who all cherished her as much as I did. I love you Squeaky!

Squeaky was a bright shining light in a one of the most joyous, accomplished families that I have ever been privileged to know. Prayers for the Lord to surround them now with love, light, and comfort in their loss. Squeaky leaves a deep legacy of love that lives on. The following quote says it best....

"Real love doesn't die. It's the physical body that dies. Genuine, authentic love has no expectations whatsoever; it doesn't even need the physical presence of a person. ... Even when he is dead and buried that part of you that loves the person will always live."

"Squeaky" as I knew her for 37 years, made me laugh every time I saw her, talked with her on the phone or in Facebook messages.
She always gave me a big hug. When I was young & hot (lol) Squeak would always flirt with me & tease me about it. Loved her. In recent years I was in a sale's position in Florida & when the company encountered numerous troubles & sales "tanked" at the site, Squeak sent me $200, told me to keep my chin up & encouraged me. I believe what lives on, is the love we've shown one another. God GAVE His Beloved Son, Jesus. I believe whenever we give, we are demonstrating Christ's Love towards our fellow humans. Squeaky had the love of God within her & she showed it. An outstanding person. May she enjoy her eternal life in the presence of Christ, the Angels, the glories of Heaven & loved ones who've gone on before her.

Hearing of the loss of Margaret tugged on my heart strongly. I have not seen Margaret for years but have, and will always, think of her fondly and with great memories. She certainly was a very bright light with a wonderful, easy smile and laugh. I always enjoyed seeing her, even when I was having a bad day she could lighten my mood. My sincerest sympathies to her family. No doubt she will be greatly missed. May we all find peace in knowing that she will indeed, be the bright (and loud if we could hear it) star in Heaven.
