Jacqueline Gershon Obituary

GERSHON Jacqueline Arlene Gershon, 86, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 at her home. Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, July 19, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64131 with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to TMC Behavioral Health, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer, The Temple, Congregation B'nai Jehudah Memorial & Remembrances Fund or a charity of one's choice. She was born May 3, 1930, the daughter of Gussie and Louis Shefrin. She was full of life and celebrated to the max. Jackie never missed a friend's birthday or anniversary. There was always a celebration or a loved one to acknowledge. For her family, it was always a very special dinner at their favorite restaurant, flowers on the table, our favorite chantilly cake and a personal gift because her generosity was her pleasure. Jackie loved giving to others, her thoughtfulness was her signature. She was always doing for others, if a friend was ill she was the first one there with dinner. Jackie never forgot anyone that touched her life. She was incredibly creative and her passion was her extraordinary garden. Jackie and Bob would work in their garden and Koi pond for hours, it was their happy place they were so proud of it. Jackie was a member of The Temple, Congregation B'nai Jehudah and its Sisterhood, B'nai Brith, Hadassah, TMC Behavioral Health, Shakespeare in the Park, Kansas City Jazz Orchestra and the Quality Hill Playhouse. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Frances Elice Gershon; her parents Gussie and Louis Shefrin and her sister Thelma Dworkin. Jackie leaves of the home, husband Robert (Bob); daughter, Susan Gershon Shatz, (Hal Samuels), son, Bruce Alan Gershon and Stephanie Siess Gershon; granddaughter, Jesica Amy Shatz, Denver, CO; grandson, Joseph Bradley Gershon and Alli Brown Gershon, Denver, CO; granddaughter, Lauren Gershon Andre and Eliot David Andre, Chicago, IL; great- grandchildren, Tommy and Marion Gershon also of Denver, CO.
