Carol Marie Super Obituary
Carol Marie Super 1938 - 2018 Carol Marie Super (Saint Carol) received her wings, departing this world on August 29, 2018. She is now reunited with many loved ones from her past enjoying peace and harmony. Carol was born on Polish Hill in Kansas City, Kansas on August 2, 1938, her mother's birthday. Her immediate family was raised by their parents to love and support family, friends, and the Polish / Czechoslovakian community which included many celebrations and good times. Carol graduated from St. Joseph's Parish Grade School as well as Bishop Ward High School. Upon graduating high school Carol went on to work at AT&T in downtown Kansas City. Carol met Harry Super at Frank's Place at 8th and Central Avenue, a family owned Polish institution, and they married a month after her twentieth birthday. They quickly got to business raising a typical Catholic family having five children in six years, moving to Fairway, Kansas, where she lived the next 53 years. Needless to say, Carol was very busy as a wife and mother raising the children to become responsible, loving adults. Carol enthusiastically supported her children in all events including block mother, den mother, sporting events, PTA, as well as supporting the neighborhood kids. She worked part time at Branded Emblems in the mid-to-late 70's while keeping her family the priority, and then finished her career working at Dillard's Department Store ending her career in 1996. Carol harbored endless curiosity on how things worked. From cooking, crafts, gardening, homemaking, as well as people, she always wanted to search out the most creative and interesting aspects of everything and enjoyed replicating those activities with her family. Her endless curiosity also included her big heart which was always full of enough love for everyone. Our world has lost one of the best, but benefitted from her love and beauty for so many years. Carol is preceded in death by her husband Harry, parents Charles and Catherine Hanis, brother Charley Hanis, son Gregory, and grandson Daniel. Carol leaves behind many loved ones which include sons Kevin (Deborah), Jeffrey (Mary Jung), Timothy (Jim DeGarmo), daughter Jennifer (Patrick Meyer), grandchildren Kenny, Karlie, Kelsie, Alexandra, and Bryce, sister Catherine Potts (Lloyd), as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members and friends, and grand-dog Mindy, all of whom she loved very much. Funeral Mass is Monday, September 17, 2018, at St. Agnes Catholic Parish, Roeland Park, Kansas. Visitation will be from 9:00am to 10:30am with Mass immediately following. Donations can be sent to St. Lukes Hospice, 3516 Summit, Kansas City, Missouri 64111, or the Strawberry Hill Museum & Cultural Center, 720 North 4th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66101, both in memory of Carol Super.
