Doris Quinn Obituary

Doris Marilyn Allison Quinn, 79, of Independence, MO, passed away May 22, 2003, at St. Mary's Manor, Blue Springs, MO. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at George C. Carson and Sons Funeral Home. Burial at Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence, MO. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus Educational Endowment Fund. Doris was a member of the Sugar Creek Methodist Church. She was educated at Sugar Creek Grade School, Northeast High School and University of Missouri and received a Bachelor of Journalism degree. She was State Representative, 40th District, 78th General Assembly 1975-1976 and was Democratic Committee Woman several terms. She was a founding member and Past President of both MO State Women's Political Caucus and the Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus, MO ERA Coalition, MO Women's Campaign Fund, Past President Women in Communications and a member of AAUW. She was manager of Administrative Services for H&R Block for seven years. Doris was born July 15, 1923 in Independence, MO, the daughter of Earnest Hayes and Ethel Marie Ferman Allison. She was married to Jack Elliott Quinn and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one brother, William Allison. She is survived by two sons, Curtis Lee Quinn, Grain Valley, MO and William Craig Quinn, Oak Grove, MO; one sister, Maxine Njgovan, Sugar Creek, MO; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
