Edna "Faye" Ervin Obituary
Edna "Faye" Ervin Edna "Faye" Ervin, 94, of Kearney, passed away peacefully, September 11, 2018. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, great gran, and just recently became a great great gran. Faye was born on April 19, 1924, the daughter of Ira and Ethel (Colley) Dillon, and was one of eight children. She was a 1942 graduate of Kearney High School. Faye married Allen Stanley Ervin on December 24, 1941. She was employed as a secretary to the Dean of William Jewell College. She then went on to earn a Bachelors of Arts in English degree from William Jewell College on May 15, 1972 and later went on to receive her Master's degree. Upon receiving her degree she taught English at Kearney High School for 12 years retiring in 1984. Faye was a member of Kearney First Baptist Church, where she shared her love for Christ through leading Sunday School, bible studies, and worked fervently with the youth. In her free time she enjoyed painting, writing poetry and traveling the world with her family. She loved keeping up with the grandkids and watching them excel in their various activities. She was passionate about the traditions she began with her family including the singing of the 12 days of Christmas every Christmas Eve, and taking each individual grandchild on a trip to Disney World. Faye was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, her son John W Ervin, and a great grandson Drew David Starzl. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Bob Dillon, Adrian Dillon, Ralph Dillon, and sister Fern (Dillon) Frick. She is survived by her daughter Rita Miller, and daughter in law Joyce Ervin, brothers Herman (Ruby) Dillon, Rev. Phillip Dean Dillon (Patsy), sister Pauline Frick. as well as, six grandchildren, Brian Miller (Dana), Doug Ervin (Dee-Dee), Dana Starzl (Doug), Mike MIller (Gretchen), Rodney Ervin (Tammy), Jenni Croy (Wes). She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson, Dillon (Brittni), Kayla, Micha, Dray, Kristen (Luke), Montana, Kasey, Brody, Lathan, Salem, and Kaegen, and Kayson. Visitation will be 10am Friday, September 14, at Kearney First Baptist Church, with services following at 11am. Burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kearney.
