He attended college at William Jewell and the University of Kentucky. He was a pilot during WWII and loved airplanes and aircraft electronics. After the war, he returned to Kansas City where he went to work for Wilcox Electric. Most of his career was spent working in radio electronics at Wilcox and at King Radio where he retired in 1983 as Senior VP for Purchasing. Jim was an amateur radio operator and an avid golfer. He was a Mason and an active member of the Old Mission Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and was a Greeter in the Abdallah Shrine. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, fishing, hunting, entertaining, dancing, and travel. He loved his dogs and was especially fond of his Shih Tzu Ming. Jim was preceded in death by his late wife Wanda J. Dear Jim,

I have been out sick, but saw the news regarding you father when I returned. Having just talked to you before I left I was expecting it. Death is one of those unfortunate events we have to put up with, until we do not. Take one day at a time, it will get better. My best to you.
