KIRK EDWARD WEBER Obituary
Kirk Edward Weber, 65, of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 2:00p.m. Friday, March 18th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Kirk was born February 16, 1951, in Independence, MO as one of four children to James Douglas and Dorothy (Nihill) Weber. He graduated from Truman High School and University of Missouri; He was a newspaper man at heart and proudly worked at the Kansas City Star as writer and editor for over 30 years, as part of a Pulitzer- Prize winning team of journalists. Kirk was a humble man who enjoyed nature and traveling, from the fields of Provence to the mountains of Yellowstone. Always a man of words, he loved reading and spent his retirement working for the Mid-Continent Public Library. When he wasn't working, he spent happy hours with his family and lifelong friends, eating barbecue, exploring Kansas City, and watching his beloved Royals win the World Series. His family will always remember the kind, sweet, gentle giant who had a sharp wit, and great sense of humor. Kirk is loved and will be missed. He is survived by daughters, Anna Weber of New York, NY; and Lauren Weber of Lee's Summit, MO; son, Nathaniel Weber (Victoria) of St. Louis, MO; brothers, Douglas Weber (MariAnne Clarke) of Atlanta, GA; and David Weber (Alberta) of Archie, MO; sister, Susan Baum (Scott) of St. Louis, MO; companion of 15 years, Cathy Ruppert; ex-wife, Denise Larkin; and numerous other friends and family.
