Latisha Ione (Dennis) Kelsey Latisha Ione (Dennis) Kelsey, 98, of Independence, MO passed away in her sleep on September 11, 2018, in the home of her daughter, with whom she lived for many years. Latisha was born February 8, 1920 to Marvin Hanks Dennis and Clella Jane (Gaskill) Dennis at their rural Mansfield, MO home. At a young age she became a Christian and was baptized into the Baptist faith. She was a long-time member of Birchwood Baptist Church in Independence, MO. She went to Mansfield schools and graduated in 1938. After business school in Springfield, she was a secretary until her marriage on February 8, 1947 to Ernest Wells Kelsey on Independence, MO. After several years of enjoying life together, they had a son, Mark, and a daughter, Jane. Latisha's husband Ernest died in 1997 after fifty years, one month and one day of a beautiful life together. Along with her husband, also preceding her into Heaven were her parents, Marve and Clella Dennis; grandparents, Joe H. and Laura Dennis and Sterling and Amanda Gaskill; her sister, Fay Wanda and her brother-in-law, Tom "Junior" Ritzinger. Surviving are children, Mark and his wife, Cindy, and Jane; niece, Marva, and her daughters, and several cousins including; Larry Dennis (Joyce) of Mansfield. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Honoring Latisha's wishes, there will be no funeral. There will be a brief, informal graveside service at 11:30 a.m., Monday at Mt. Washington Cemetery.
