Saddened by the news of Larry's passing. He will be missed by his many friends in the history community. It's hard to imagine the Northern Great Plains History Conference without him. My thoughts and prayers are with Barbara and the rest of his family.

I am sorry to hear of Larry's passing. He was certainly a "memorable character" in the best definition of the term and I shall remember the times that I spent with he and Barbara most fondly.

I had Doctor Larsen for a course in the 1970s called "Rise of the city in the United States". I was not a history major but took the class as an elective. He was quite fascinating and included quite a bit of Kansas City history. I still remember every July 3rd Dr. Larsent and the opening of the Hannibal bridge on Sunday, July 3rd, 1869. He was quite adamant about that event as being a key date in the history of Kansas City.
