1968 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
ROBERTS Shanon Christine Roberts, 48, of Kansas City, died Friday January 13, 2017, with her family by her side after a courageous battle with Breast Cancer. Born April 12, 1968, Shanon was the second child born to Judi Mayhew and Joe Smith, April 12, 1968, in Fort Scott, KS. Shanon and her brother Bryan grew up in Chanute, KS. The family moved from Chanute to Overland Park, KS in 1976 where Shanon attended 3 rd grade. The family moved to Lee's Summit, MO the following year where Shanon attended 4 th grade through high school, graduating in 1986. She married her high school sweetheart, Nick Roberts in 1987 and together they raised four amazing children: Jonathon, Madilyn, Sophie and Gracie in Kansas City, MO (after spending the first 4 years of their marriage in Lee's Summit and Cheyenne, WY.) Shanon was the Business Manager for the family business: KM Construction Inc. She loved to be outdoors and had a life-long love for fishing and spending time with her family and their beloved Labs (Templeton, Blueberry, Simba, and Georgia) on their property outside of Urich, MO. Shanon was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church Kansas City, MO and was an active participant in her children's education including: Scout Leader, Room Mother, Field Trip Chaperone, and volunteering to assist with School games and fundraisers. Shanon is survived by: Her loving husband of 29 years Nick Roberts and their children: Jonathon Roberts and daughter- in-law Meredith Roberts of Fort Worth, TX; Madilyn Evans and son-in-law Will Evans of Raleigh, NC; and Sophie and Gracie Roberts, students at Sion High School in Kansas City, MO. Her mother Judi Mayhew and her partner Larry Howell, her father Joe Smith and wife Marilyn, her brother Bryan Smith and a large and loving extended family including her husband's father Rick Roberts and his wife Judy, Traci and Rock Atzmiller, Randy and LuAnn Roberts, Mark and Jenifer Roberts and Brent and Lindsay Roberts, and their children (her nieces and nephew). She is preceded in death by her beloved Mother-In-Law, Kay Roberts and her Grandparents. A Celebration of Life/Visitation service will be held Calvary Lutheran Church 7500 Oak KCMO 64114, Tuesday January 17 th , 2017 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
