1930 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
Rodger William Lambie, age 85, of The Villages, Florida, passed away Tuesday morning January 12, 2016 at home. He was born April 26, 1930 in Denver, Colorado to John Lambie and Hilda Flaat Lambie. Rodger's family moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota where he graduated from Grand Forks Central High. He served two years' active duty with the Air National Guard. A B.S. from North Dakota State was achieved in 1954. After farming for a year he decided to enter medical school. He met his wife Marlene Lybeck and was married August 22, 1954. He received his M.A. in medicine from the University of North Dakota in 1957. He and Marlene moved to Kansas City in 1957 so he could continue his medical education at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He received his M.D. in 1959. Rodgers internship was at Menorah Medical Center. He became a top Radiologist and was a pioneer in CT Scanning and Mammography. He founded Diagnostic Imaging Center and opened 4 imaging centers. Rodger retired in 1997 and moved to the Lake of the Ozarks. He enjoyed numerous activities including: boating, skiing, woodworking, hunting, traveling, restoring Model A cars, photography, scuba diving and golf. He was preceded in death by wife Marlene after 53 years of marriage. February 14, 2008 Rodger married Linda Fanning. They moved to The Villages and enjoyed their time together golfing, traveling, dancing and meeting new friends. They belong to Hope Lutheran Church. Rodger's life was devoted to his loving family, and extended work family. His favorite quote was "Life is Good". He had a generous kind heart and was loved by all. He will be forever remembered as he touched many lives with his caring nature. Rodger is survived by his wife Linda Lambie, son, Jim Lambie and wife Diane, three daughters Barb Wismer and husband Chuck, Shari Rawie and husband Dennis, Sandie Spencer and husband Rick, one brother John Lambie, eleven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, as well as Linda's children Jim Fanning, Susan Davis and husband Brian, Rob Fanning and wife Melanie, and 4 grandchildren. Memorial Contributions are suggested to The University of North Dakota Medical School, University of Kansas School of Medicine, or Hope Lutheran Church in The Villages, Florida. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 26th 11:00am at Hope Lutheran in The Villages, Florida. Kansas City Services will be held on Friday February 26th, 2:00pm at The Church of the Resurrection, Leawood, Kansas.
