Ronald Lueck Obituary

Ronald Walter Lueck

1942 - 2018

Ronald Walter Lueck, 76, passed away Aug, 3, 2018, at his residence in Monona, Wis.

Born March 2, 1942, to Walter and Marian (Derwae) Lueck, Ronald was raised in Kenosha and educated at Columbus Elementary, St. Thomas Aquinas, Mary D Bradford and UW Parkside.

Ron served his country as an Airman First Class with the US Air Force from 1961 to 1964. He was stationed at Ramstein Air Base, Germany and spent many weekends traveling the European countryside. His stories and photos from those exciting years kept his children and grandchildren entertained for hours. After his active service, Ron continued to serve as a Staff Sargent in the US Air Force Reserve until 1968.

On April 1, 1967, Ron married the love of his life, Rosalee Mary (Lanctot) Wamboldt, at St James Catholic Church. Rosalee preceded Ron in death May 17th of this year.

Over the course of his life, Ron worked for the Kenosha County Social Services Department as well as the Child Support Agency. He also had a long career working for both the Navy and the Army in civilian posts. Ron moved across the country with his family for jobs with the armed services, mainly the Navy, holding positions in Washington D.C., Mich., Ill. and Minn. before returning to Kenosha. He worked for the Naval Medical Command at Great Lakes Naval Base until his retirement in 2004. Ronald was a past President, Treasurer and Secretary of the American Society of Military Comptrollers.

Ronald and his wife enjoyed retirement and traveled extensively, both in the U.S. and overseas. They loved visiting their family both near and far and enjoyed time together volunteering at Kemper Center, the Anderson Art Center and Shalom Center. They were most recently active members of St. Anne's Catholic Church where both volunteered; Ron as an usher, a member of the finance committee, a cross bearer and a funeral minister.

Ron is survived by his children, Beth A Lueck (Thomas Bailey) and Carolyn M Lueck (Goran Yordanoff). He is also survived by Rosalee's children, whom he loved as his own, Frederick S Wamboldt (Marianne), and Bruce M Wamboldt. He was the proud grandfather of Krystyna (Blaise Treeson), Alexander (Zohar Gilboa), Jaclyn, and Eric Wamboldt. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Lueck and Katherine (Chartier) Pomeroy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, and by sisters, Luella (Chartier) Loetz and Joyce (Chartier) Collins.

Ronald was a true gentleman, upstanding, honest and kind, with a contagious laugh and a wonderful, welcoming smile. He loved exploring new places, the outdoors, stamp collecting and his family. He was the first to offer a helping hand to family and friends and found a way to laugh every day, even as illness altered his life. He is greatly missed. Ron's generosity of spirit is exemplified by his selfless donation of his remains to the UW Medical School to help educate future physicians and hopefully advance research a step closer to a cure for Alzheimer's.

Special thanks to the staff at Heritage Monona and the extraordinary assistance of the staff at Agrace Hospice.

Ronald's life will be celebrated Sept. 22, at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 9091 Prairie Ridge Blvd, Pleasant Prairie WI, at 10 am with a luncheon following in the church hall immediately after the service until 2 pm. All are welcome.

He was a really important member of our community when we were kids at St. James - A really good guy who looked out for us kids when we needed it. It was a pleasure reading his obit. He never stopped giving to his community.
