MOORE Frederick Freilin, Jr., "Freddy Moore" (76) died on July 9, 2018 in Lexington, KY. He was born to Evelyn Curtis Moore and Frederick F. Moore on February 22, 1942 in Winchester, KY, and has lived in Lexington for 75 years. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Ashley Noelle Moore, D.V.M. He was the owner of his father's music store, Fred F. Moore Music Co. Fred graduated from Lafayette High School in 1960, and attended the University of Kentucky. He served in the Air Force (1963-1967) at K.I. Sawyer Air Force base, Strategic Air Command, in Marquette, MI. While serving in the Air Force, Freddy played bass, guitar and sang vocals with Fred Crook and the Outlaws. After returning home, he played many years with the Dave Parry orchestra, as well as many other groups. After Dave retired, Freddy played bass and sang with Custom Sounds which became Joey and the Cruisers, led by his good friend, Joe McGrannahan (sax), for over 30 years. He was a member of the Lexington Musician's Association and their vice president for 24 years. Fred was a member of the Grand Masonic Lodge of Kentucky (606), the Northern Masonic Lodge in Marquette, MI, and the Oleika Shriners in Lexington. Freddy is survived by his son, Frederick Curtis Moore; sister, Jennifer Moore Brock (Dan D. Brock, Jr.) of Lexington; nephew, Zachary Duncan Brock (Erin Harper), and their twin girls, Alula and Sadie, of South Orange, NJ and his beloved dog, Lucy. He has a host of cousins on the Curtis and Moore sides of the family and many loving friends who will miss him dearly. There will be a visitation for Freddy at Milward Funeral Directors at 159 N. Broadway on Saturday, July 14 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Masonic Service, conducted by Doyle Rambo, will be held there at 7:30 p.m. A private family burial service will be held at the Lexington Cemetery at a later date.
