LA GRANGE - Robert Frederick "Fred" Corbin, II, 71, passed away, Friday, May 11, 2018. Fred was born May 4, 1947 in Lenoir County to the late Robert Frederick Corbin and Bonnie Allene Vause Corbin. Fred received his undergraduate degree from Campbell University and later earned a Master's Degree in History from East Carolina University. Fred retired from Dobb's School where he worked as a teacher. Life for Fred revolved around his grandchildren. Their well-being and happiness were his number one concern. Fred's happiest moments were spent playing with his grandsons. Fred's family has many fond memories of his wonderful cooking and his keen sense of humor. Always wanting to be busy, Fred loved tinkering on little building projects around the house. A service to celebrate and honor Fred's life will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at 7 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Ashley Summerlin officiating. Burial will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery. Fred is survived by his wife of 31 years, Phyllis McDaniel Corbin; two children, Marty May, and Jeff May and wife Amber; three grandchildren, Corbin Ethan May, Gavin May and Jameson Pare; his faithful caregiver, Holly Sugg; and longtime family friends, Brenda Hartley, Vivian Martin, Leigh Ann Smith and Ray Smith. Family and friends will be received Tuesday following the service.
