Charles (Chuck) Stoner
Silverdale - Charles (Chuck) Stoner was born on June 6, 1931 in Parson Creek Township, Livingston County, Missouri and passed away on October 24 at the age of 88. His parents were Robert Loris Stoner and Minnie A. (Cook) Stoner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ernest Stoner, his sisters Marguarite Prater and Pauline Jett. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ora (McHone) Stoner, sons Warren (Grace) and Brooks Stoner (Casey), brother Robert L. Stoner (Connie), and sister Louise M. (Stoner) Reed, granddaughter Mary Ann Tenold (Shawn) and three great-grandchildren plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles enlisted in the US Marine Corps on July 24, 1951 and served three years four months and seven days, training in amphibian tractor operations and then spending a year in Korea during the conflict. Then he worked for an insulation firm for several years in Kansas City, Kansas before relocating to Bremerton, Washington. He worked for the Army at Ft. Lewis, the Naval Supply Center at Pier 91, the Air Force Academy and Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He retired from the Shipyard as a Woodcrafter in June 1991.
Chuck enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling in his motorhome during his retirement. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 4, 2020 at the VFW Post at 190 South Dora, Bremerton, WA 98312. Time: 1:00 to 5:00. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite veterans' organization.
