George James Petersen, 79, of Bremerton, died October 13, 2018, at Harrison Memorial Hospital He was battling Parkinson and Pneumonia.

Born January 14, 1939, to Charles and Marcella Petersen in Bremerton where he attended school. Later he went to the University of Washington while working for the Navy during the summers. He received his Master Degree in Electrical Engineering with Honors from the U of W in August of 1964.

In September 1964 he moved to Mountain View California where he began work with GTE Sylvania. While working for GTE he was deployed to BOQ U.S. Military Hdqtrs Berlin W. Germany in 1966, then back in Mountain View in November 1966 to 1968 and then to Arlington, VA in 1968 and returning to Mountain View in late 1968. He later bought his townhouse in Mountain View, CA where he remained thru out his career. He retired in 1992. He was relocated to Bremerton February 2017 do to Parkinson.

George loved to travel. He visited Japan, Germany, China, Europe, Egypt, Australia along with the US, Canada and Mexico. He loved the Mountain View Library where he spent many hours and where he donated generously. He also visited the Bremerton Regional Library when he was visiting family in Bremerton. On his travels he also spent many hours in the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. He made many friends thru his travels.

George was the last of four (Marion, Cecilia, Charles) to be born to Charles and Marcella Petersen. George is survived by his oldest sister Marion Prater of Bremerton. Nephews Gordon Marshall and spouse Shane of Key Largo, John Marshall of Bremerton, Charles and spouse Simone Marshall, Great Niece Kelsiana of Bremerton. Niece Christy Adams and Nephew Michael Adams.
