Joseph Jerome Eckert Obituary
Joseph Jerome Eckert

Poulsbo, WA

March 26, 1964 to Sep. 21, 2018

Today, we announce the passing of Joseph ("Joe") Jerome Eckert of Poulsbo, Washington. Joe was born in Bedford, Indiana on March 26th, 1964. He is the sixth of eight children of James and Ruth Eckert. His tragic passing came unexpectedly on Friday, September 21st, 2018 in Bremerton, Washington.

The adoring husband to Elaine Fitzwater Eckert, loving father to Nicole Newby, Derek Eckert, Tyler Hendricks, Garrett (Rachel) and Kyle Eckert, devoted grandfather to Garrett Joseph, Jr. (JoJo), Briley and Sterling. Joe raised his family in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, committed 24 years of service to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, and was a faithful fan of the Seattle Seahawks ('Go Hawks') and Seattle Mariners.

Adoring, loving and devoted aside, Joe was alive with the gift of seeing humor in life's events, even during the most challenging of times. His huge heart that showered unconditional love, finally became weary. Joe's spirit, love and humor will remain in those that are left behind. His 'gold star' wit and attention to detail, enriched the lives of his family and friends. He left this world too early, but with an impact that will change all that he touched for the years to come.

In addition to the above, Joe is survived by his siblings Charles Eckert, Mary (Brian) Whitney, William (Barbara) Eckert, Elaine Hustead, John (Jan) Eckert, Juliana (Kelly) Dougan and Anthony Eckert as well as many nieces and nephews.

We will miss him greatly, but are comforted knowing Joe has joined his parents in Eternal Peace.

Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Bremerton will host a memorial service on Friday, September 28th, 2018. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 am, Service at 11:00 am, and a Reception to celebrate his life will follow. A private burial is scheduled for later that afternoon.
