Balsinger, Betty C., age 84, of Madisonville, passed away 7:20 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Active member of First United Methodist Church. Lifetime member of Sequoyah Trail Garden Club, co-founder of the East Tennessee Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Den leader of Pack 100 Cub Scouts. Graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan College and Hiwassee College. Employee and Co-owner of Balsinger Real Estate and the Madisonville Drive-Inn theater. Co-founder of Monroe County Head Start. Born in Versailles, KY, lived in Atlanta, GA until the age of 18, where she met Carl Balsinger at the Madisonville Drive-Inn, and was married. Survivors, daughters, Belinda Balsinger, of Knoxville, Bridget Balsinger, of Madisonville, sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Karen Balsinger, of Sweetwater, Brian and Janet Balsinger, of Madisonville, grandchildren and spouses, Julia and Josh Marlowe, of O'Fallon, Missouri, Ashley and Daniel Oelgoetz, of Lenoir City, Jeremy and Brenna Balsinger, of Louisville, TN, Jeffery and Chelsea Garrett, of Madisonville, great-grandchildren, Jaden Jenkins, Vonn Oelgoetz, Brody Signorelli, Mac, Satch and Gunner Marlowe, Adalynn Balsinger, Bentley Garrett, Cooper Garrett, special friend to the family, Joan White and the Sequoyah Trail Garden Club members. Preceded in death by husband, Carl Balsinger, daughter, Angie Balsinger, son, Mike Balsinger, parents, William Hortence Calmes and Lillian Oliver Calmes, sister, Peggy Ann Eaton, brother, James Calmes, half-brother, Jack Calmes. Memorial Service 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, Biereley-Hale Chapel, Rev. Keith Knight officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Madisonville. Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
