Betty M. Wilson, age 86, of Knoxville, Tennessee, died peacefully Monday morning, September 10, 2018 at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living of Knoxville. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and the Great Smoky Mountains Hiking Club. Betty graduated from Knoxville High School and then from UT School of Nursing in 1952.

She was a kind, brave soul with an engaging smile, amazing spirit. Betty was a beautiful of ray of sunlight who loved traveling, hiking, reading and loved sports and was an avid Volunteer fan. She was a strong-willed woman. Betty lived life on her terms after the long-term effects of a stroke, 37 years ago. Her affirmation was "positive attitude, positive attitude".

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, George Anthony Wilson, parents, Virginia and Jesse Mikels, and brother, Jerry Lynn Mikels.

Betty is survived by children, Anthony G. Wilson (Elizabeth Wilson), Michelle Weiss (David McCauley), and R. Gregory Wilson (Susan Skees), grandchildren, Amy Hale, Justin Weiss, Andy Wilson, Laura Cordell, Brian Weiss, Jackson Wilson, and Arianne Weiss, 7 great-grandchildren, and brother, Ron Mikels (Norma Jeanie Mikels). She had many friends at Arbor Terrace who loved her.

A Memorial Mass at All Saints Catholic Church will be held at 10:30am, Monday, October 1, 2018 with a burial to follow at 2:00pm at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 East Gov. John Sevier highway.
