RHATIGAN, PHD., DEBORAH (DEB) - age 40, died peacefully on Thursday, December 10, 2009, at her North Knoxville home. Deb was born on August 17, 1969 in Mineola, NY to John P. Rhatigan and Lynn Geller Rhatigan. She was married on June 3, 2000 in Blacksburg, Virginia to Todd M. Moore. Receiving a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Tech in 2002, Dr. Rhatigan was employed by the University of Tennessee at Knoxville as an assistant professor of Psychology. She was a well respected researcher who studied women who were victims of domestic violence, seeking ways to improve their quality of life. She was a devoted wife and mother as well as an avid reader and enjoyed classic movies. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her loving husband, Todd M. Moore of Knoxville; daughter, Anna Rhatigan-Moore of Knoxville; brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Nancy Rhatigan of Raleigh, NC; sister and brother-in-law, Denise and Josh Bell of Santa Monica, CA. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Sacred Heart Cathedral with Monsignor T. Allen Humbrecht officiating. Interment will be private. from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2009 at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with a Christian Prayer service to follow at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Safe Haven, ASCPA, Humane Society or any animal protection agency of your choice.
