Dorothy Quesenberry Thompson - age 83, of Fountain City peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018. Known as Miss Dottie and GranDottie, she will be lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Rhoda Leigh and Charles Fleck, and grandson Luke Bullard of Atlanta, GA. Dottie is preceded in death by her brother Lawrence, parents Roy and Eula Quesenberry, and husband Everette A. "By" Thompson. She will be sorely missed by siblings Glennard Quesenberry, Lelia Thompson, Clarence Quesenberry, Ruth Kirtner, their spouses and extended family.

Born in Radford, VA on November 19, 1934, Dottie's talent as a pianist and vocalist became evident at an early age. She majored in music and graduated from Emmanuel College in 1954. After she married By, they relocated to Knoxville where she spent much of her adult life working with civic and cultural groups to include Akima Club, Tuesday Morning Music Club, Knoxville Women's Chorus, UT Quarterback Club, UT Tip-Off Club, Dogwood Arts, and The University Club where she served on the board. Dottie was also selected to appear in Outstanding Young Women in America for her contribution s as a volunteer in her community. Dottie enjoyed attending performances by the Knoxville Opera and Symphony and City Ballet, and she took private voice lessons for 14 years.

As former members of Smithwood Baptist Church, Dottie and By remain lovingly remembered by the Sunday School student they taught. Dottie enjoyed singing in the adult choir and teaching children's choir there.

After joining Fountain City Presbyterian Church, Dottie remained active in the adult choir and volunteered in the church office.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Atria Weston Place for their tireless, genuine, loving care of Miss Dottie. We love you!

Family will receive friends 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at Stevens Mortuary. The family will go in procession to Greenwood Cemetery for a 3:00 p.m. graveside service with Pastor Gradye Parsons of Fountain City Presbyterian Church officiating.

Serving the family is, Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Fountain City Presbyterian Church, 500 Hotel Rd, Knoxville, TN 37918, in memory of Dottie
