DAVIDSON, DR. ELVYN VERONE "DAVE, DOC, GRAN-GRAN" - age 86, crossed into Jesus' loving arms Tuesday, July 6, 2010 from complications of a stroke. He leaves to cherish his memory: devoted and loving children, Pamela E. Chesney, Dr. Evelyne M. Davidson, Elvyn V. Davidson II; devoted grandchildren and caregivers, Robert V. Branner and Aiyana R. Davidson; loving grandchildren, Abigayle, Elvyn V. III, Benjamin Davidson; nieces and nephews he helped raise, Sonya C. Lopez (Bobby), Colorado, Clyde Elvyn Cowan, Leslie Garner, George "Ricky" Green; loving foster daughter, Alice Williams; numerous God-children to in clude Sharon Mosby, Keelah Jackson; loving cousins, Iris and David Wallace and family (Georgia); extended family that loved and cared for him and whom he cherished, Susan and Riley Reynolds and family, George McMahan and Maxine Evans. Special thanks to Dr. Janet Lubas, the staff of Patricia Neal 4-East, 3-East and especially Armentha Eskridge, the Marino Therapy Center, the staff of Knox County Medical Examiner's office - especially Det. Larry Vineyard and Dr. Mileusnic. He was a 4th Degree Knight and a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus Council 645. He was a life-time member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, a faithful parishioner and head usher of Immaculate Conception Church, and 30+ year Sunday School teacher of the Men's class at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Sincere thanks to the Eucharistic ministers that served communion to him in the hospital and to Deacon Askew, Deacon Raleigh Wynn and members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Unity Mortuary Chapel from 6:00-8:00pm. The funeral will be Friday, July 9, 2010 at 11:00am at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Joseph Ciccone, C.S.P. officiating. Interment, Knoxville National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph's School on Howard Road in Knoxville, Tennessee and Knoxville Catholic High School in his name. Service will conclude with a dove release.
