Jean Fennell Garvey, "Miss Jean" 86 of Rutledge, passed away June 9th at Beverly Park Place nursing home in Knoxville. She was a long-time member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and a graduate of Rutledge High School.

For 25 years "Miss Jean" loved and cared for children at Rutledge Elementary School. Jean was married to the love of her life, Tom and they were blessed with two children, Mary and Jim. She delighted in homemaking, keeping an immaculate home both inside and out. An avid gardener, expert seamstress and an excellent cook. Jeans homemade pecan pie and tasty salsa were the favorite treats of family and friends alike. She was a big basketball fan and a standout player in high school.

Preceded in death by parents Johnny and Gladys Fennell; husband Tom and son Jim.

Survived by daughter Mary (Ronald) Brabson; sister Ronnie (Bill) Large; niece Lisa Berry; daughter-in-law Connie Collins; grandchildren Josh (Lauryn) Garvey, Leah and Blair Brabson; great granddaughter Grace Garvey.

Special thanks to the outstanding third floor stay at Beverly Park Place and kind staff at Elmcroft in Halls.

The family will receive friends at Shiloh United Methodist Church on Wednesday June 13, 2018 from 4-6 PM. With a celebration of life to follow. Officiated by Rev Cherie B. Chapman.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church or their cemetery fund.
