Sue Williams Obituary

Sue Ann Brady Williams

Knoxville, TN

Sue Ann Brady Williams (81) of Knoxville, Tennessee died April 16, 2018 after a short illness. Sue was born June 9, 1936 to E.B. and Pauline Jones Brady. She grew up in Norris Park, TN. Sue married the love of her life, Donald B. Williams in 1956. Together they raised four daughters, shared a love of horticulture, animals, crafts and travel. They built a life together, but more, a home called Cliffbrake in Knoxville. It was their pride and joy for over 30 years. Sue shared her talents and passion for wildflowers and entertaining with hundreds of visitors to the gardens. Her Lenten Roses were the envy of all who saw them. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Don in 2002, and infant granddaughter Kara Lynn Stutsman in 1995. She leaves behind Donna (Mike), Brenda (David), Sandra, and Wanda (Karl). Her loved grandchildren of whom she was most proud: Meghan (Ritvan), Hannah, Erin (Andrew), Joshua, Parker, and Sarah. And her four great-grandchildren Jace, Hayden, Harper and Hadley. She also leaves her beloved dog, Opal. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Young-Willams Animal Shelter. www.young-willams.org

Aunt Sue and Uncle Don created an inspirational piece of beauty at Cliffbreak (Not kidding for one of the few times in my life). I was quite lucky to play a small part in its creation back in 1982. I also know that everyone else who was lucky enough to see this beauteous place along the South Knoxville cliffs left a happier more inspired person. Aunt Sue and Uncle Don definitely left the World a better place than how they found it!

Sue and Don were extremely brilliant, gracious, and talented and shared their beautiful Cliffbrake with so many people who were in awe and thankful for the opportunity and pleasure. Their names are often spoken in conversations about beauty in Knoxville. Sue was a lovely wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. It was my good fortunate to have known her. My condolences to all you girls and your families. She was so proud of all of you.

I have so many lovely memories of spending time with Aunt Sue at Cliffbreak. She always shared a kind ear, good advice and some wine. She made me and many friends feel very welcomed in her beautiful home and garden.

I am so lucky to have become part of the Williams family by Marriage. My hearts go out to all my Williams family but especially Sandra, Hannah and the kids. She was such a huge part of your lives. I know it is a very hard time for you.

What a wonderful lady, who I had not seen in years. I worked for her husband at UT with Ramelle Trundle. He was a wonderful man also. Thoughts and prayers are for the family.

Hannah and Sandra, I am so sorry for your loss. Hannah, I only met your grandma a time or two, but she was kind and from what I've heard from you, a wonderful lady. She did create a beautiful home and apparently a beautiful life. She is with her husband now and I guarantee she is happy and healthy now. One day you will see her again in a beautiful place we can't imagine. I love you and Sandra. Please tell her I say Hello. If you need me, don't hesitate ok? Love, Sarah, Jason, and Alyssa Sands

What a creative, loving, happy spirit! That is cousin Sue. I have fond memories of watching her weave cloth, fantastic food, and beautiful plants that she and Don planted at their beautiful, unique home. My sister (Cynthia) and I have great memories of playing with Donna, Brenda, Sandra and Wanda. What a fun, happy, warm home Sue kept. She will be missed, but she is back with Don, whom she adored. She deserves her angel wings.
