Susan Fowler Carter

Oak Ridge, TN

Susan Fowler Carter passed away peacefully on June 8, 2018. She was born in Evansville, Indiana on March 24, 1942. Much of her life was defined by her love of learning. She received an undergraduate degree in education and began her adult life teaching school. She later received a master's degree in social work and found her calling with a career in counseling. She married Boyd Carter in 1982 and began a new life in Oak Ridge, Tennessee when Boyd accepted a position as minister at the United Church "Chapel on the Hill" in 1983. She had found a soulmate in Boyd and together they were welcomed into a loving church community and immediately knew they were "home".

A gifted practitioner, Susan dedicated her life to helping people find their way through difficulties and challenges. She provided a consistent reminder that to be in the world and to love and connect are worth the effort. "Just be"

She is survived by two daughters, Betsy Paige, Bend, Oregon and Amy Paige, Seattle, Washington, three grandchildren, Evelyn, Owen and Wyatt, two brothers, Bill and David Fowler, both of Atlanta, Georgia.
