Murfreesboro, TN

Captain William O. Pointer, Murfreesboro, TN and native of Anderson County, TN, age 102, passed away, Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Adams Place Nursing Facility, Murfreesboro. Captain Pointer spent over 30 years in the Air Force serving in Europe and Pacific Theaters of operation. Captain Pointer was the 2nd of 7 children of Ike and Bertha Worthington Pointer, born Feb 2, 1916. He graduated from Glen Alpine High School in Anderson Co and Lincoln Memorial University. He taught school in Anderson Co. before volunteering the Army Air Force. When he returned from the Air Force, he became a Tennessee Walking Horse Breeder in Rutherford County.

He married the late Major Dorothy Myering Pointer and is survived by one son, William M. Pointer of Ocala, FL; two granddaughters of Colorado; three great-granddaughters of Colorado; and one brother, James L. Pointer of Knoxville, TN.

Visitation with the family will be 1:00-3:00 PM, Wednesday, June 13, 2018 followed by a chapel service at 3:00 PM at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military honors.
