Knoxville, TN
Kathryn J. Garvin (Katie), age 94 passed away peacefully in Knoxville, Tennessee on March 3, 2018
Katie was born in Urbana, Ohio on January 16, 1924. She followed her husband Glenn around the country when he was transferred for his job, and they retired to Lynn Haven, Florida. In Florida, she was active in Senior Friends, Master Gardeners, Newcomers, and Red Hatters. Katie, in the words of a special friend in Florida, was a beautiful woman. As she lived her life she planted seeds of faith, love, kindness, peace, beauty and helpfulness. She was a stellar example to all with her unconditional love for her friends and family. She always thought of others.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life for almost 75 years, Glenn Garvin; son (Ronnie) and five brothers and sisters.
Katie is survived by her daughter, Linda Scothorn, (Jim); grandsons, Douglas, (Bonnie) and Daniel, (Banks); and four great-grandchildren, Reid, Rebecca, Sarah and Sam, and honorary granddaughters, Gina and Jennifer Lucas. Katie thought the moon rose and set with these precious grand and great-grandchildren

Linda and family,
I loved me some Katie. She and your dad put many dedicated hours into Gulf Coast Hospital's volunteer program and especially our joint partners program. I will never forget her sweet smile as she got someone a coffee or their packet that she had put together. I am so honored to know this amazing woman. May she rest in peace.
