KENDALLVILLE - Nancy Lee (Young) Lewis, age 83, of Kendallville, Indiana, died on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, at Parkview Regional in Fort Wayne.
She was born in Kendallville, Indiana, on April 14, 1942, to John Franklin Young and Mary Kay (Roberts) Young.
Nancy graduated from Kendallville High School in 1960.
She married John Joseph "Jack" Lewis on Sept. 29, 1962, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kendallville.
Nancy worked at King Seeley and in the furniture and décor field. She used both her time and talent as a decorator to fill her and others' homes with beauty and charm. She loved caring for her home through both season and style changes, with her finished environment bringing joy and great comfort to friends and family. Many have shared through the years that her home was beautiful, and they always felt welcome and at home.
Nancy was an avid golfer; she was a member of Elks golf course and was a former city golf champion many times over. She spent many years doing ceramics, and she greatly enjoyed caring for her plants, her outside environment, and her many dogs through the years. She loved and remembered fondly, two of her dogs, Shawn and Eli. Nancy shared her love of old movie watching with her family, along with her love for her favorite entertainers, Barbra Streisand, The Rat Pack, and more.
Survivors include her three daughters, Leeann and Jeff Atkinson, of Kendallville, Mary and Alan McMaken, of Wolcottville and Nancy Lewis Hathaway, of Sylvan Lake and Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike and Pat Young, of Kendallville and Larry and Cathy Young, of Kendallville; three sisters, Joyce Allen, Kathy Linthicum and April and Pat Brady; three brothers-in-law, Tom and Jena Lewis, of Fishers, Daniel Lewis, of Kendallville and Kevin and Patty Lewis of Columbia, South Carolina
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; her in-laws, Franklin Lewis and Myra (Brophy) Lewis; her brother, Johnny Young; and her very good friends, Margo Taylor and Dorthy Owens.
At Hite Funeral Home, 403 S. Main St., Kendallville, visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, from 4-7 p.m., and on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025, from 11 a.m. to noon, with a service at noon.
Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.
Preferred memorials may be made to Noble County Humane Society, 1305 Sherman St., Kendallville.
