Sheila Jett

WAWAKA - Sheila Marie Jett, age 91, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025.

Born in Kendallville, Indiana, on April 16, 1934, she was the daughter of Bernard Ray and Beulah Doris (Sexton) Chapman.

She graduated from Rome City High School with the Class of 1952.

On June 29, 1952, Sheila married Ross Jett, and they welcomed three children.

They were very faithful and involved members of Wawaka Church of the Brethren.

Sheila was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who balanced caring for her loved ones with managing the many responsibilities of the family and farm. She was the Elkhart Township Clerk for 19 years. After her husband's passing, she was appointed the Elkhart Township Trustee from 2009-2015.

She is survived by her children, Roger (Cheryl) Jett, of Ligonier, Kathy Jett, of Ithaca, New York, and Linda (David) Dirig, of Wawaka; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Sheila was preceded in death by her loving husband Ross in 2009; her parents; and a brother.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, at Wawaka Church of the Brethren, 2726 W., C.R. 700N, Wawaka, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, at Wawaka Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Donna Holcomb officiating.

Interment will follow at Cosperville Cemetery, Wawaka.
