Colleen Hudson Obituary
Colleen Hudson
Colleen Ellen Hudson peacefully went to be with God on December 22, 2017. She was 55 years young. Colleen grew up in Enumclaw WA where she found a love of reading, music, spending time with her Grandma Rose and making memories with her parents and siblings. She received her bachelors degree from CWU and fulfilled her lifelong dream to be a teacher. She was an amazing teacher and enjoyed substituting throughout Kittitas County. She took a personal interest in many of her students lives and was always willing to help them whenever necessary. She had a deep passion for writing and history. She loved stopping at every historical marker possible and never wanted to stop learning. She was creative, gifted and loved spending as much time possible with her family. She was an exceptionally selfless person, and always put others first. Colleen found the love of her life and spent 35 years with him, through the good and the bad, their love will always last. Being a mother and grandmother were two of her biggest accomplishments in life and she excelled more than most at both. She believed in making messes, in singing loudly, and loving deeply. Colleen was a spitfire and loved laughing, even at her own expense. She had an amazing sense of humor and a quick wit. She would get this sparkle in her eyes and you knew there was mischief in the air. Colleen made connections with everyone she met and touched the lives of so many. Words cannot express how much she will be missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Marjorie "Pudgie" Markovich and her sisters Donna Jean, Dorothy Eve and Khristine Meri. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Hudson. Her children, Dale (Meagan) Hudson and Elizabeth (Christian) Cox. Her grandchildren, Andrea Vasquez, Allyson Vasquez, Ryker Hudson, and Parker Hudson. Her siblings, Joseph Babic, Rosie Babic, Richard Babic, Kathleen Michael, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Swauk-Teanaway Grange Hall on Sunday, December 31st, at 1pm. There will be a potluck, all friends of Colleen are welcome.
To end this, I would like to share a poem written by Colleen in 1992 about herself:
Oh dream child,
Dreaming of a love so far away.
Surprised to find it in a man most true.
Holding her family near her heart,
Wearing her children as precious jewels.
She holds onto the past,
Hoping she honors all
Who know and knew her well.
Sewing the past and the future together
With the quips of her pen.
Finding true beauty within her.
Learning self worth
By the giving of herself.
Finding self love.
Finding Colleen.
