Francesca "Frances" (Farentello) Spurgeon of Ellensburg, Washington went home to be with our Lord on July 22, 2012 in her home. Frances was born August 25, 1928 in Mazara Del Vallo, Sicily, Italy. When she was 24 years old, she came to the United States and worked as a seamstress in New York and eventually became an American Citizen. She lived in New York for many years and raised her five children with her husband, Sebastian Ragonese. After the loss of her husband she moved to Wenatchee in 1997 to be close to family. While living in Wenatchee, she made many friends. She later met and married the love of her life, Norman Spurgeon of Ellensburg. She inherited five more children and their families to love. Frances made friends easily and was always very generous with everyone she met. We loved her "spicy" personality and wonderful Italian cooking. Frances loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Even though many of her children lived across the country, she stayed in close contact. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy and she relished in giving them her attention. We will miss her very much, we love you Mom.
In addition to her husband, Frances is survived by her loving stepson and primary caregiver Neal Spurgeon of Ellensburg, her son Frank Trovato (Anitta) of Puyallup, son Pete (Fran) Trovato of Copiague, NY, son Russell (Anna) of Pt St Lucia, FL, her daughters Mary (Steve) Ferrugia of Estero, FL, and Camille (Gary) Vigrass of Pt St Lucia, FL. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Deb Ray of Spokane, Norm (Lisa) Spurgeon of Colville, and Randall (Deb) Spurgeon of Republic. She and Norman share 30 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Pietro and Virginia Ferrantello, and her first husband Sebastian Ragonese.
Frances's family would like to thank Neal Spurgeon for his devotion and precious care. They also wish to thank hospice nurses that helped with her care.
A graveside service will be held at High Valley Cemetery on August 25, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Brookside Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
