Helen Louise Danton Fennerty Obituary
Helen Louise Danton Fennerty
Helen Louise Richardson was born March 8, 1922 in Sycamore, Illinois, to William and Helen Richardson. Beloved wife of the late Lawrence Danton and the late Francis Fennerty. Devoted mother of the late Stephen (Medi) of Yelm, David William (Susan) of Haddonfield, New Jersey, and Julie Ann Ross of Lacey, Washington.
Grandmother to Lawrence Arthur, (Dawn), David William (Julie), Matthew Evan (Laura), Michael Craig (Kalina), Kevin James (Alyssa), Leanne Christanson (Todd), and great-grandmother to seven.
For over 60 years, Louise was the matriarch of the family. She was Aunt Louise to 7 nieces and nephews and Great Aunt Louise to their children. Louise had a passion for documenting family history. She was the caretaker of over 130 original Civil War letters, as well as other family memorabilia. She spent her retirement years documenting both paternal and maternal family history, and has presented every one of her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews with bound volumes of her work.
By profession, Louise was a schoolteacher at Mt. Stuart Elementary, in Ellensburg, Washington, teaching for over 25 years. After retiring from the public school system, Louise worked at Central Washington State University, mentoring and supervising future teachers.
While a resident of Ellensburg, Louise was a founding member of the Western Art League, and an active hostess for the Central Washington State University School of Business and Economics. She was also a member of PEO.
Louise was very active in the First Lutheran Church in Ellensburg, as well as the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Haddonfield, New Jersey.
Louise is the last of her generation in our family, and we can only hope that we, her children and her nieces and nephews continue the lessons she taught us: never undervalue the importance of family, be strong in your beliefs, be wise with your words, be generous with your heart, be sharing with your wisdom and gentle with your criticism.
Helen Louise passed away June 22, 2018, due to complications from Alzheimer's. Funeral service will be held at First Lutheran Church on Thursday, August 30, at 10:00 a.m. Internment is private.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made, in the name of Helen Louise Danton Fennerty, to the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Wood Lane, Haddonfield, New Jersey, 08033 or First Lutheran Church, Ellensburg, Washington.
