Monte Burt Cady, Sr., 74, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at his home in Rathdrum, Idaho.

He was born to the late Virgil Monte and Grace Burt Cady on June 24, 1938, in Missoula, Montana. Monte grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska, and graduated from Lathrop High School in 1956. He attended the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (UAF) where he met and married Barbara Ann Sawey Cady on April 7, 1960. They had ten children.

While attending the UAF, Monte was a member of the ROTC, which led to a commission and later retired as a Captain in the Infantry. Monte graduated from University of Alaska-Fairbanks in 1960 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He went on to work in the banking and mortgage industry in Vermont, Alaska, Washington and Idaho.

Monte was an avid writer and genealogist. For fun, he and his wife would write and host murder mystery parties for friends and neighbors. He combined his love of family history and writing. Within his family, Monte was well known for writing and sharing short memoirs and stories of his life growing up and living in Alaska.

Monte was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and one grandson. He is survived by his brother, Douglas A. Cady; sister, Mary Lou Cady; ten children; twenty-seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday, April 5th at 2:30 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1700 Brick Road, Ellensburg, Washington.
