Roylyn Ruth Gordon
July 18, 1938 - July 7, 2014
Roylyn Gordon was born in Lyons, Colorado, to her parents, Adelyn Ruth and Albert Leroy (Roy) Burdick. She spent much of her childhood in Fairbanks, Alaska, with her parents, grandparents, brother and sister. The family returned to Lyons in 1946 where she spent the remainder of her youth.
In March of 1973, Roylyn married the love of her life, Bill Gordon. Together they created a loving home for their blended family and children, Wanda, Debra, Shelia, and Billy. Roylyn was a loving, compassionate person with a nurturing nature. Her happiest moments were spent as a loving wife and mother.
Bill and Roylyn started their life together in Lyons, Colorado, and then moved their family to Bill's hometown, Ellensburg, Washington, in 1977. Roylyn worked 17 years at Central Washington University and then retired so she could care for her elderly parents.
Some of Roylyn's favorite things to do were sewing, crocheting, cooking, baking, gardening and going dancing with her husband. She especially loved entertaining her family and friends and supporting her grandchildren in all of their activities.
The high priority Roylyn placed on her family made her the hub that held them together. She always put them first and did so in a way that was generous, loving, devoted and loyal. She lived her life as a model of compassion, love and forgiveness. Her tender heart and compassion for others made it easy to bring tears to her eyes from those that knew her. Many would agree that she was the sweetest and kindest person they had ever known. Roylyn lived graciously and courageously and was an inspiration to all those who knew and loved her.
In addition to the joys of having a large family, she was blessed with many close and steadfast friends.
Her parents preceded her in death. Survivors include her beloved husband, Bill; brother, J.C. (Pat) Burdick; sister, Dorothy (Rod) Moores; children, Wanda (Ron) Foxhoven, Debbie (Rob) Boddy, Shelia (Victor) Gibson, and Bill (Laurie) Gordon; and grandchildren, Chris (Daleen) Jenkins, Katrina (Adam) Alldredge, Billy Gordon, Hailey Gordon, Deaira Gordon, Cody Gordon, Michael Rose, Ryan Rose, Sara Rose, Howard Gibson and Nancy Gibson. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her life is a testament of God's abundant love and mercy. The blessings poured into her life are beyond measure. She will live in the house of the lord forever.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 18 at 3:00 P.M. at Mercer Creek Church in Ellensburg (1407 N. B Street).
