Ron Gist, founder and CEO of Gist Piano Center in 1971, passed peacefully at home on Sept. 1, 2018. He attended Seneca High School in Louisville, and the University of Louisville, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. He was a charter member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Bardstown, serving in many active lay ministry roles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Gist and Hallie Pauline DeWitt Gist.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Amanda Mary Dysard Gist; his daughter, Hallie Geneva Gist (Joseph) Miller; his son, John Dysard (Hannah) Gist; and five grandchildren: Dysard Joseph Miller, Stanley Thomas Miller, Henderson Riley Gist, Maxwell Julian Gist and Elizabeth (Ellie) Rose Gist.
His memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 211 N. Third St., in Bardstown, with a joyful reception to follow immediately thereafter, across the street at Kreso's Restaurant.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, Bardstown KY, for the support of their community music development and piano care fund.
