Pedro " Pete" Vasquez
Pedro Vazquez 79, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the Jerry L. Pettis VA Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA. Mr. Vasquez was born August 1, 1933 in La Junta, CO. Mr. Vasquez was well known during the 1950's – 1970's for playing fast pitch softball in San Bernardino, Redlands and in Barstow at the Marine Base known as "Uncle Pete". The last team he played on was with his family of brothers, uncles and cousins, the team was named "Familia". Pedro is survived by his son Pedro Vasquez, Jr.(Donna) of Charlotte, NC, sisters Connie Trujillo, Rosie Lopez, Lynn Lucero, Maria D. Vasquez, and Mary Lou Ortega all of San Bernardino, CA, brothers Frank Vasquez of Barstow, CA, James Vasquez of Hemet, CA, Tomas Vasquez of Rialto, CA and Porfirio Vasquez of San Bernardino, CA, 3 grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. Viewing will be Tuesday, January 22 from 4pm-8pm at Mark B. Shaw Chapel, 1525 N. Waterman Ave., San Bernardino, CA. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, January 23 at 11am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1430 W. 5th St. San Bernardino, CA. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in San Bernardino, CA. Services entrusted to the care of Mark B. Shaw Funeral Directors Aaron Cremation, San Bernardino, CA

We played ball for the Flame Bar, along with his brother Jimmy whom I made my first communion back in the early 50's..Pete was a very going straight arrow.

I was very sad to hear that Uncle Pete went to be with the Lord. He was very nice and caring to me always. He will be missed. My prayers are with all of his loved ones.
