How to place an obituary in Los Angeles Daily News

The Los Angeles Daily News strives to provide the best customer service experience, so we ask that when you submit an obituary. We offer two ways to submit your tribute.


Email or fax us your draft and we will help your complete your tribute. Remember to include your name, address, email address and phone number so that we can provide you with a cost estimate and proof of the obituary. Our normal response time is one to two hours of receiving it (M-F, 8:30 – 5:00).

You can use our self-serve portal to submit your obituary. Your tribute will be processed for approval.

Deadline Information:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
1pm for next day publication

1pm for Sat, Sun & Mon publication

(All above are non-holiday deadlines)

Pricing Information:
Obituaries start at approximately $395 per day. The quote can be with or without a photo. The easiest way to get an exact cost for an obituary is to e-mail the obituary to our office; we will format the obituary and provide you with a cost estimate or to enter the obit through our Self-Serve portal.

We are now offering color photos with obituaries but cannot guarantee color placement on specific days. If you would like to submit a color photo for publication, we will make every effort to make sure it prints in color; otherwise the photo will be in our standard black and white format.

Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Our email and fax are available 24 hrs.
