Alfonso A. Dargenzio, 95, passed away in his home June 4, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Rose Dargenzio, his 4 sons, Enrico (Lynn), Dino (Maria), Raymond and Richard (Kathy). As well as 9 grandchildren; Alisa Nelson (Matthew), Roseanne (Ambi), Nicholas (Joanna), Breanna Tamburin (Sandro), Anthony (Hillary), Roman (Erlina), Mia, Nina, and Jenna. As well as 5 great grandchildren; Elizabeth, Samuel, Francesca, Angelo, Charlie, and a great grandson on the way.

Alfonso was born in Old Boston/Yatesville, Pennsylvania on November 17, 1922. He was the second eldest of seven children and the son of Enrico and Maria Nina Dargenzio who were young immigrants from Santa Angelo a Cancelli, in the Campagna Region of Southern Italy who settled in the coal mining region of Pennsylvania. At the age of 18, Alfonso's father was killed in a coal mining accident.

He joined the U.S Coast Guard shortly after his father's death during World War II, however, once the Coast Guard heard the news of his father's untimely death, they sent him home with an honorable discharge so he could help support his family. He then moved the family to Endicott, New York to have a better life with more opportunities away from the coal mining industry. There he met his future wife, Rose Loiodice and ultimately married in 1947. After a brief honeymoon, Alfonso and Rose moved to Burbank, California where Alfonso set his roots and started his cabinet business, Dargenzio Cabinets, which is still in operation today.

In addition to being highly talented with his hands, Alfonso was extremely inquisitive and had an incredible acumen for business, fostering multiple tri-generational business. Starting and expanding his cabinet business in Burbank, and Santa Rosa, CA, dozens of commercial, residential, and apartment real estate developments, and the growth and expansions of the Dargenzio Winery in Santa Rosa and Burbank. Alfonso was a true renaissance man, craftsman, and excellent business man and innovator for his time - continuing to stay active and foster younger generation in the family businesses through the end of his life.

Alfonso was a unique character acting as an incredible role model to his immediate family and many more. A man of tremendous dedication to his family and he will be deeply missed.

A Rosary Service will be held Thursday, June 28, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Valley Funeral Home, 2121 W. Burbank Blvd., Burbank, CA 91506. Mass Services will be held Friday, June 29, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at St. Finbar Catholic Church, 2010 Olive Ave., Burbank, CA 91506. Burial to follow the mass at 12:30 p.m., at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 6300 Forest Lawn Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90068.
