Bertha Clark Obituary

Bertha, 92 years of age, died at home on December 15, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer and dementia.

She was born in New Mexico, but moved to California in the early 1930s. She graduated from San Fernando High School in June 1943, and in August 1943 married Alpha Clark. They began married life in Newhall, but moved to the San Fernando Valley in the 1950s. She owned a Merle Norman Cosmetics store in Sylmar until the late 70s, but closed it to fight and win her first battle with breast cancer. In retirement she volunteered at Olive View Hospital, the Sylmar Women's Club and the Sylmar Chamber of Commerce until poor health made it impossible to continue.

Bertha is survived by Alpha, her husband of 74 years; son, Leroy; daughters, Cynthia (Jim) Strain and Eva (Jerry) Ackerman; three granddaughters, five great grandsons, and two great, great granddaughters. She also leaves three sisters, a brother and several nieces and nephews. Her family and friends will greatly miss her love, generosity, optimism, warm smile and infectious laugh. No services are scheduled
