Georgia Jean Burrows Obituary
Georgia Jean Burrows

Georgia Jean Burrows was born September 10, 1929 in Hollis, OK and died December 9, 2012 at her home in Norwalk, CA. Georgia moved to Norwalk in 1966 where she raised her family and was a Christian example for us all. Georgia was the only daughter to Andy Buren McHam and Vera Myrtle McHam. Her brother Vancel was killed as an adult in a tragic automobile accident. She graduated early from Fillmore High School at 17 years old to start a career in banking which spanned 46 years. Georgia was married on September 19, 1948 to the love of her life "Bill" for 58 years until his death in 2007. She worked at Crocker Bank then Wells Fargo as a branch operations manager and retired in 1989 along with her husband "Bill" to enjoy their golden years together. Earlier in September, we celebrated her 83rd birthday, another milestone. Mom always put others before herself. She was a generous spirit with great inner strength and she was our family Matriarch. She was a very strong willed, fiercely independent woman and always upbeat in how she dealt with life's challenges. Mom set the standard for real meaning of family. She raised her children to follow their own path and dreams and be themselves. We aspire to live by today and pass on to our own children the values and ethics she taught us. She was a great source of compassion and encouragement. If you had the opportunity to meet her you know how blessed you were to have such a guiding spirit in your life. She had lots of people who came into her life and became "adopted" family members. You were always welcome in her home. She will be admired forever and never leave the hearts of the people she touched during her lifetime. Her lifetime achievements did not make her famous or etch her name in the stars, but she had the richness and full wonderful life just by being the best wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother anybody could ask for. She was our golden angel here on earth, now reunited with her love "Bill" in heaven. She is survived by her loving children: daughter, Cindy, son, David, daughter, Karen, son-in-law, Greg, daughter-in-law, Stephanie, 9 wonderful grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Services will be held at 10:30am at the Imperial Church of Christ in Downey with gravesite services at Rose Hills in Whittier. Donations in lieu of flowers to the or . We have a tremendous void in our lives and will miss her greatly. We love you Mom, grandma, great-grandma and great-great grandma, we will meet again, your loving family.
