Edith Mae (Brock) Byrge, age 92, of Jacksboro, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 27. She was born on Oct. 19, 1925, and was a member of Central Baptist Church of Caryville. A loving wife and mother who enjoyed gardening, cooking, and caring for her family. She was one of "The Girls of Atomic City" who helped win WWII. She spent many years as a pastor's wife and was loved by many. Proceeded in death by husband, the Rev. Joby Byrge; mother, Jane (Seiber) Brock; father, Owen Brock; five sisters, three brothers, and two grandchildren.
She is survived by sons, Bobby Byrge and wife, Nadine of LaFollette, Tommy Byrge of LaFollette, Johnny Byrge and wife, Laura of LaFollette, Larry Byrge and wife, Dawn of Jacksboro and Roger Byrge and wife, Pam of Jacksboro; daughters, Shelby Day and husband, James of Jacksboro, Deanna Miller of LaFollette, Beulah Curl of LaFollette and Melissa Craft and husband, Kevin of Rocky Top; sisters, Dicie Humphrey of LaFollette, Geneva Tiller of Illinois and Lula Forth of Kentucky; 26 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Services were held Sunday, Jan. 28 in the Cross-Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin James Dunn, the Rev. Adam Hunley and the Rev. Alva Gene Daugherty officiating. Interment was in Campbell Memorial Gardens.
Cross-Smith Funeral Home, of LaFollette, was in charge of arrangements.
