Ann Eileen Steck February 1, 1959 - July 18, 2018 La Jolla Ann Eileen Steck, 59, passed away from cancer at home with her family on July 18, 2018. She was the beloved wife of Robert Steck for 34 years; loving mother of Andrew (Jamie) and Timothy; grandmother of Thomas; daughter of Robert and the late Eileen Brode; beloved sister of Joy Whitehair and Lewis Brode; dear sister-in-law of Rebecca Brode and Susan and Rob Fleming; aunt of Sam and Sarah Brode and Bobby, Marie and Julie Fleming.Ann spent her childhood in Tipp City, OH and Bedford, MA. She graduated from Miami University of Ohio in 1981 and received an MBA from the University of Chicago in 1985. While residing in London with Bob and their young boys, Ann studied Medieval History at Birkbeck College.Ann's career was in banking for over 30 years, most recently with Bank of America as a Senior Vice President in risk management. She was a devoted volunteer as a Board Member of the Old Globe Theatre, member of the Finance Council for the San Diego Diocese and Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) at Voices for Children. She also served as a volunteer for Boy Scouts, United Way and the St. Louis International Institute. She was an avid reader and dog lover. Ann's recent conversion to Catholicism was a source of great pride, joy and comfort to her.A funeral Mass will be held at All Hollows Catholic Church, 6602 La Jolla Scenic Drive South, La Jolla on Friday, August 31, 2018, at 3 pm. Per Ann's request, a reception will immediately follow. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.Ann also requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Voices for Children at speakupnow.org or mailed to Voices for Children, 2851 Meadow Lark Drive, San Diego, CA 92123.
