Jane Eleanor Larsen Obituary
Jane Eleanor Larsen February 12, 1947 - July 25, 2018 Rancho Santa Fe Jane Eleanor Larsen, age 71, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2018 with her family by her side in Rancho Santa Fe, CA. Jane was born February 12, 1947 in Texas to Antonio and Maria Alday Lopez. She grew up in Chicago and after finishing high school, she worked as a secretary at National Tea Co., where she met her future husband, Phil. They were married in June 1967. A month later, she joined her husband in Frankfurt, Germany, where he was stationed with the US Army. After a year in Germany, they returned to Chicago in 1968, where their first child, Elizabeth, was born. A few years later, Jane began to work at an insurance company and then later at the local church. She served as a volunteer with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She and Phil also provided religious instruction for young children at their home. In 1989, Phil's job took them to live in Paris, along with their two younger children, Meredith and Timothy. Paris is where Jane blossomed; learning French, taking cooking classes, and enjoying the art museums, cafes and restaurants. A few years later, Jane and Phil spent a year in London. Their years in Europe were a very happy time for the family as they made many new friends and traveled widely. Jane further indulged her love of travel joining Phil on many business trips in South America and Asia.In 2009, Jane and Phil retired to California, eventually settling in Rancho Santa Fe in 2012. Jane was active in the RSF Garden Club and a mentor in the Future Legends Scholarship Program. In her later years, Jane enjoyed quilting, making several baby quilts for family and friends. While gardening was always an interest, it became a passion in California, and her garden in Rancho Santa Fe was her pride and joy. Family was very important to Jane and she frequently had her children and grandchildren visit. Thankfully, before her health made travel difficult, Jane and her extended family enjoyed a 5-week vacation in Paris and the south of France in 2017. France always held a powerful attraction for Jane and being there brought her great joy.Jane is survived by her husband, Phil; daughters, Elizabeth and Meredith; son, Timothy; and five grandchildren.A funeral mass and subsequent reception will be held at Church of the Nativity, 6309 El Apajo, Rancho Santa Fe, on Monday, August 13, 2018, at 11:00 AM.
