Margaret "Margie" Durante Obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Margie Durante on
June 7, 2009.

Margaret "Margie" (Little) Durante was born September 26, 1919, in New Jersey. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Little, Margie grew up in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. As a teenager, with her gorgeous red hair and undeniable charm, Margie was crowned Queen of the New Jersey State Fair. She attended New York University before being hired by the legendary Copacabana in New York City. It was at the Copa that she met her dear husband, Jimmy. Everyone wanted to see him perform, yet he himself could not take his eyes off the pretty redhead.
After a decade's long courtship, Margie and Jimmy were married at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in New York City on December 14, 1960. The couple was overjoyed at the arrival of their daughter Cecilia "Cece" Alicia on Christmas Day 1961; Cece instantly became the apple of her parent's eye.
Margie led a beautiful and glorious life with Jimmy, and missed him every day since his passing in 1980. Margie loved spending every summer in Del Mar, where she spent her days enjoying the races with friends at the Del Mar Racetrack. Margie also took great pride in watching Cece become a champion horsewoman, taking top prizes at several competitive shows over the last three decades before becoming a successful horse trainer. She loved spending time with Cece and her husband, Steve, and especially her three beautiful grandchildren, Connor, Ryan and Maddie.
Margie's donated generously to several charitable organizations, such as St. Jude's Hospital, the Society of Singers, the Society of Dancers, and many, many other charities, as well as many individuals in need. She never wanted recognition for these acts, but those whom she helped will never forget it.
She was preceded into Heaven by her husband, Jimmy; her parents, Celia and Samuel Little; sister, Isabel "Bella" (Little) Carmenetti; and many friends. Margie is survived by her daughter, Cece Durante Bloum and son-in-law, Stephen Bloum; her grandchildren, Connor, Ryan and Maddie; all the Durante nieces and nephews; her dearest friends; and all of Beverly Hills, where she had made her home for over half a century.
Services were held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
