Dear Salazar family,
It is with great great sadness I have been informed, via this website, of the death of Fernando. He was a co worker of mine in state government and a very kind man. I had last talked to him a couple years ago. Again, I am so sad to hear of this tragedy. My condolences to your family ; a family that has gone through so much sadness in the last several years.

Dear Salazar Family,
My sincere condolences on the loss of Fernando. I was unable to go to his services, but I was able to talk with him a few months ago. I was so inspired by his good nature and courage under such trying and sadly final circumstances. He lifted my spirits more than I could have ever lifted his. I'm grateful to have known him these past 8 years.

My condolences come from the ol' neighborhood - South Deering. My family lived around the corner from you and next door to the Morenos. Although Fernando was older than me, I remember him fondly as a lifeguard at Trumbull Park and a dear friend to Tico. After many years, I had the privilege of seeing Fernando in Las Vegas in September. For over an hour we had the most upbeat conversation. Those words and laughs we had will be a wonderful memory to me.

I might add to Mr. Oller's comment that Fernando had a great passion for politics in general. But his passions were not limited to politics. From our many discussions I know he loved and enjoyed his family. I know their visits and calls during this difficult time was of great comfort to him. He had a big heart that reached out to his many friends.
I can't help but think he is now in heaven checking out the political field and having discussions with past historical figures.
I miss you.

Fernando on the rocks at Lake Michigan in Racine.
To Elvira and Dr. Louie and his family I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am. I also want to thank you for sending me a text and letting me know. Although I have never met any of you in person I feel as if I know you through all the fabulous things Fernando would tell me about his family. I hope you all know how much he loves you. He was exspecially fond of his nephew, (Louie's son.) There wasn't a conversation I had with him that he didn't bring him up. Although I will not be able to be at the funeral, I will be meeting you all on Thursday. I only wish it could have been under different circumstances. He's truley a special person and will be our own special angel guideing us thoughout the rest of our journeys here on earth until we meet him again.
