Richard D. Pryor "Pops" was born on July 9, 1944 in Limestone County, AL. He departed this life on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. In 1967 Richard was honorably discharged from the US Army with a Vietnam Service Medal as a sharpshooter. He migrated to Gary and worked at Ball Glass, US Steel Supply and finally retiring from Patten (Caterpillar) Industries in Hammond, IN. Richard coached basketball in the City of Gary for more than twenty years ranging from Biddy ball to High School. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Beatrice, son Brian Pryor, both Gary, IN; daughters Veronica (Marcus) Dean of Huntsville, AL; and April Pryor of Gary, IN; 4 brothers, 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 9am-11am with funeral immediately following at Miller First Baptist Church, 5601 E. 4th Ave., Gary, IN. Interment Fern Oaks Cemetery.
